Oil Collection Program

bullet10am to 12pm, 1st and 3rd Saturdays

WHY:

bulletState law (LB1257) banned disposal of waste oil in landfills beginning September 1, 1994.  It’s estimated that five million gallons of used oil are generated in rural Nebraska each year.
bulletThere is a need to prevent the soil, surface water, and ground water in Nebraska from possible contamination or used oil.

HOW:

bulletMake sure to collect your used oil in clean, empty and sealable containers.
bulletTake uncontaminated (free of water, antifreeze, etc.,) used oil to your county’s oil collection facility.

WHAT WILL BE ACCEPTED:

bulletSpent oil from gasoline and diesel engines.
bulletSpent refrigerant lubricating oil.
bulletSpent lubricating oil from aircraft reciprocating and jet engines.
bulletSpent hydraulic fluid.
bulletSpent heat transfer fluids.
bulletSpent transmission fluid.
bulletCutting Oils.

WHAT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED:

bulletSpent antifreeze.
bulletBrake fluid.
bulletSolvents of any kind.
bulletAny used oil with water.

 

A gallon of used oil can ruin a million gallons of fresh water!
A year’s supply for 50 people
